For clerks of court
Case management built for how your court actually works
Verdict handles Civil and Criminal court filings from disposition through final judgment, built by a company that has spent decades inside the offices that process them.
After decades of hands-on experience with court records, Cott Systems built Verdict to bring comprehensive case management to your office — helping you move filings from disposition through final judgment without fighting the software to get there. Verdict handles all court filings, Civil and Criminal, because we know each carries its own processing standards and its own headaches.
“Cott Systems has delivered what they said they could do. As you learn the system, they are good at breaking down the issue and helping you understand it. They are there to respond, and I’ve been happy with that.”
— Mark Graffeo, Clerk of Court, West Baton Rouge Parish, LA
Control who sees what
Verdict retrieves data and images associated with a case quickly, and public access over the internet is entirely at your discretion. Robust account management functions let a public official decide who can view data and images, and at what level — so confidential information like birth dates, Social Security numbers, and financial details can be restricted from public view without restricting the rest of the case record.
Deploy it the way that fits your office
Verdict can run locally with secure eBackup, or hosted in Cott’s secure, state-of-the-art data center with redundant hardware. A hosted system adds 24/7 access from anywhere in the United States, no server installation or local backups to manage, stronger disaster preparedness, and a faster implementation.
Verdict CRIMINAL
A complete data and image workflow follows a case from inception through disposition and sentencing. Verdict CRIMINAL works cohesively with your Supreme Court, automating daily transmissions under business rules you set, and integrated eFiling lets you retrieve data and images from the District Attorney’s office and import deliveries from the Sheriff’s office.
Verdict CIVIL
Verdict CIVIL manages cases from creation through disbursement — case, party and docket entries; searches by case type, number, party, or date filed range; case history by case or party; scheduling; advanced deposits; notices; and minutes management. Jury features cover pooling, reports, reference files, and payments. It’s available hosted or installed locally.
Verdict CIVIL with eFile and Verdict CIVIL PREMIUM
Verdict Civil with eFile adds a customized, partial eFile solution to the same platform your office already uses daily: attorneys and filers submit electronically, your clerks add filings and fees manually where needed, and judges and clerks can digitally sign documents from a review queue where each submission is accepted, rejected, or reassigned.
Verdict CIVIL PREMIUM adds further efficiencies for busier offices — voiding a single check entry without voiding the entire check, an advanced deposit system for managing escrow payments, and the ability to generate billing statements and email documents directly from within a case. A version with fully integrated eFiling adds auto-detection that populates fields as filers submit, one-button import into the docket, and a full view of past, present, and pending caseload.
CottFile, our own electronic filing system
Electronic filing for Verdict is CottFile — built by Cott Systems, not licensed from anyone else. Attorneys and the public submit civil and criminal filings from any browser, on a desktop, tablet or phone, and follow each one from submission through acceptance with instant notifications.
Your clerks work a review queue: accept, reject or reassign each submission, with judicial review and court administration in the same place. PDF tools are built in, so documents can be split, combined, stamped and redacted without leaving the system. One filer account covers every connected Louisiana parish court.
Because we build it, the filing queue and the case file are one system rather than two that have to be kept in step. See cottfile.com for the filer, clerk and administrator guides.

Questions county offices ask
Does Verdict handle both Civil and Criminal filings?
Yes. Verdict is designed to handle all court filings — Civil and Criminal — each with its own processing standards built in, rather than forcing one workflow to cover both.
Can the public see case data and images?
Only at your discretion. Verdict's web search includes account management functions that let a public official decide who gets access and at what level, and confidential information such as birth dates, Social Security numbers and financial details can be restricted from public view.
Do we have to host this ourselves?
No. Verdict can be deployed locally with secure eBackup, or hosted on Cott's cloud infrastructure, which adds 24/7 access from anywhere in the United States, no server maintenance, and built-in disaster preparedness.
What does eFiling with Verdict actually look like?
Filers submit electronically into a review queue where clerks accept, reject or reassign each submission. Judges and clerks can digitally sign documents, and the office can accept and manage electronic fee payments alongside the filing.
Who builds the eFiling?
We do. CottFile is Cott Systems' own electronic court filing system, built for Louisiana parish courts and connected to Verdict. It is not a third-party product bolted on, so the filing queue and the case file are the same system rather than two that have to be kept in step.
